Winter's End is Near

We did not have a lot of snow this winter; the low rivers and lakes could have used the additional moisture.  This is an image of the bridge over the river that runs adjacent to our home a couple weekends ago.

This past weekend, the weather warmed up a bit and we decided to head to Matthiessen and Starved Rock State Parks about and hour and half from our house.

There was still ice on the small streams, but the main rivers flowed with open water.

In many areas, there was a mixture of water and ice signaling that the higher temperatures and sunlight would soon bring an end to winter.

In La Salle canyon, while the main waterfall was still frozen, a small stream of water flowed beneath.

You have some nice photos here. Looks like you live in a scenic area which is nice.

Love your last photo of the frozen waterfall. Sometimes the waterfalls freeze here too and they are so beautiful!

I love all those frozen photos (considering I'm in mid-summer).
