Where is the Summer Weather?

Another great weather weekend in Chicagoland… At this point in August, you would guess that the pool would be packed, but yesterday early afternoon, I think we were about two of twenty people that were there (the guards out-numbered the patrons)…got to love that 70 degree weather.

Today, we rode our bikes to Geneva to check out the Geneva Consours d’Elegance car show. Even if you are not into cars, this car show is totally worth going to. It knocks the pants off the Warrenville or Wheaton shows…in fact, the cars that were in the Warrenville show wouldn’t even be let in the door here. They had a whole street of Porsches alone…a parking lot for Ferraris…a few Aston Martins…streets of Rolls-Royces (both young and old)…the Corvettes even seemed a little out of place at this one. Craziness!

Speaking of cars…I was in my first accident this weekend. Rob was driving (it was in the Focus)...as we were approaching Naperville Road going east on Butterfield, there was a school bus slowed down in the right hand lane. We then heard the sirens and needed to slam on the brakes (we had a green light..and we couldn't see around the bus). Needless to say…dink…we were lightly rear ended. The woman was very apologetic and felt horrible…nobody was hurt and there was minimal damage to either car (her PT Cruiser suffered a bit more than my Focus), so we just exchanged numbers and opted to leave the police and insurance companies out of it (maybe if our car was not 9 years old we would feel differently). I suppose if anything, it reminded us to pay attention to that 3-second rule.
