We acquired her through a local rescue group called Magnificent Mutts. She was dropped on the side of the road in Quincy, IL; she went to seek shelter at a nearby home - the owner didn't like dogs and shooed her away with a broom. Someone else picked her up, calmed her down, and brought her to a shelter. She was then transferred up to Chicagoland where she would have a better chance of finding a home.
She was spayed the day before we picked her up, and the wound had some issues. Slowly, we are getting it healed...hopefully stitches will come out in a few days and the cone will be able to come off permanently. We are working on training (Heel, Sit, Stay, Down...and then certainly Off, and No); we will go to our first obedience class later this morning. We are also slowly working on exercise as this gal is going to have to be up for some long walks (and some running too!); it has been hard keeping her calm the past week to get that wound closed up.
She loves Rob. She loves the couch. She loves the car. She loves the dog park. She hates the crate. This girl can jump! The gates we put up to keep her in the kitchen while her wound was oozing blood...well, no match...she took a few steps back and hurdled it (with about 8" to spare)! She has been good with meeting other people and dogs, but if you come to the house, she may let out a bark when meeting you. She is not use to having people on her turf. Also, for some reason, she does not like people smoking (but that's okay...we don't either!).

Ouch!
Yesterday, some friends of ours organized a paintball day at a local venue. I had never participated in paintball before, and thought it would be fun. There was a group of 24 of us. While it was a good time, I cannot count the number of bruises that Rob and I have all over our bodies!

Your dog is really beautiful! I hope you are enjoying her. I think she will be good for you :)
Love that you have a new dog!
cute puppy... BIG puppy! How fun for you guys. I have also never participated in paint-balling, so you'll have to tell me KT, is it worth it? Are all the bruises worth it?
P.S. I don't know if you saw my response to your comment on my blog... thank you so much for the card. That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. You are an amazing woman. Thank you.
That dog is beautiful! And of course she's in love with everything (except the crate), she finally has a HOME!
